CALL TO ARTISTS: Kaiser Permanente's Kern County Juried Art Exhibit
Art Inspired by Kaiser Permanente's Brand

Submissions Due: Monday/Tuesday, May 24 & 25th, 2010

On Display: June 3, 2010 - August 2, 2010

Kaiser Permanente & the Arts Council of Kern (ACK) are collaborating to find art to beautify Kaiser
Permanente's new medical office building in downtown Bakersfield. This one of a kind exhibit will
feature artworks inspired by Kaiser Permanente's unique approach to total health. Artists are
requested to consider the following words, Kaiser Permanente's brand, and how to interpret them into works of art: Total Health, Thrive, Caring, Persevere, Vitality, Joy, Optimism, Well-being & Empowering.

The exhibit will open on June 3, 2010 and run until August 2, 2010. The Call to Artists
is open only to Kern County artists with a $20 entrance fee per work, with maximum of three (3)
works total. Cash prizes will be awarded in various categories along with the chance that your piece
could be purchased and hung in the new Kaiser Permanente medical office building. All submissions are due May 24 & 25th, 2010.


AWARDS: Kaiser Permanente, ACK & a preselected jury will select the artwork for the
exhibition from the submissions and will determine award winners in various
categories (cash prizes are determined by the number of entries).

ELIGIBILITY: Original artwork only, completed within the last two years, and not previously
shown at the ACK. The ACK reserves the right to refuse works judged unsuitable
or with unusual request. All artwork should reflect Kaiser Permanente's brand
and should not include nudity, smoking or alcoholic related items.

ENTRY APPLICATION: All artists should complete entry and notification forms with all information  requested. A non-refundable fee of $20 per entry, with 3 entries maximum, is
required, payable to the Arts Council of Kern.

DELIVERY OF WORK: Hand delivered artwork is due at the Younger Gallery on Monday/Tuesday,
May 24 & 25th, 2010 between 10am - 5pm. Shipped artworks are due to the
ACK no later than May 24 or 25, 2010. All shipped work must arrive prepaid and
return shipping is the responsibility of the artist, as is the shipping insurance.

SALES: Work will be sold at the price listed on the entry form. As this is a special juried
show the normal gallery commission is reduced from 50% to 25%. Artists will
receive payment for work sold to Kaiser Permanente within one month of the
purchase date or the close of the exhibition. The sale prices must be reasonable
and in line with the artist's previous sales.

PREPARATION OF WORK: All works should be labeled on the back with (name, title, medium, size and price). Two-dimensional works: All acrylic & oil paintings must be gallery-wrapped
and wire hung. Graphic art & watercolors must be framed with protective glass and
wire hung. All paintings must not exceed 6x4 ft., depth 4 in. and weight 50lbs. For
some walls 5x3, 5x4, 4x4, 4x3 will work. Three-dimensional works: Works,
including base, should not exceed 72" in diameter or 120lbs. Also, please include
special handling requirements if needed.

* Keep in mind that this artwork needs to be safe in a public domain - no
sharp edges or harmful pieces.

LIABILITY: The ACK insurance covers art works in our gallery. Work is covered for the
percentage due to the artist upon sale. Submission of the entry form serves as an
agreement to the conditions in this prospectus.

EVENT SCHEDULE: May 24/25, 2010: Receiving of artworks from 10am - 5pm
May 26, 2010: Jury artworks
May 27, 2010: Artists Notified
May 28, 2010: Pickup of not accepted works or arranged pre-paid shipping
June 3, 2010: Opening Reception at the Younger Gallery- Kaiser Permanente's
Kern County Juried Art Exhibit
August 2, 2010: Pick up or arrange prepaid shipping of unsold works

ARTWORK PICK-UP: Please pick up work or arranged prepaid shipping by August 2, 2010. Work that remains at the ACK beyond the pick up date of August 6, 2010 is subject to a
storage fee.
