ARTini

ARTini Event
A big success for first year event!
BAKERSFIELD,
CA - September 5, 2008 - Last Friday night "The Bakersfield Signature
Martini" was crowned by 400 of Bakersfield's martini sophisticates, who
came to the Petroleum Club to enjoy the Arts Council of Kern's fund
raising event - ARTini. This inaugural evening of martini's, martini
inspired artwork, rat-pack music and great food was a sell out event.
We appreciate all of the arts supporters for coming to this first
annual fundraiser to support music in our schools.
Attendees were asked to vote on "Bakersfield's Signature Martini" drink. For this event, the popular vote was 49% and the judges vote was 51%. The Petroleum Club won the judges vote with their drink Eclectic #13 and the $1,000 prize, but opted to give it back to the Arts Council of Kern in support of our arts community. The Alley Cat won the people's choice vote with their drink, Alley Cat-tini and won a GPS system from Three Olives Vodka, one of the event's sponsors. Honorable mentions were given to Randolph’s Lounge and Crest Bar and Grill. Other bartenders include: Café Med, Coconut Joe's, KLLY 95, T-Bones Steak House, Trout's and mixologist's from Sandrini Concepts and Young Wooldrige, LLP. The winner's trophy is now at the Petroleum Club but will be up for grabs again next year at ARTini2. In all there were 11 bartenders/mixologists sponsoring this event at $500 each.
The judges were: Scott Cox of KERN Radio, Anthony Goss, former board president of ACK, Penny Rafferty of the CVB, Miles Johnson of Bakersfield Magazine, Neil Holmes Bakersfield Jam, Jill Guimarra, Carlos Daniels & Jonathan Badgley distributors of Three Olives Vodka and Danette Rinehart from Kern County Community Foundation.
In addition to the martini stations, Executive Chef of The Petroleum Club, Robert Alimirzaie offered a delicious gourmet selection of hors d'ouevres.
All media is invited to our next event Friday Oct. 3rd "Up on the Roof" for more info visit kernarts.org.
We appreciated Todd Karli from KERO who hosted the night and a live auction for hand-painted martini glasses created by local artists. Several martini inspired paintings and hand painted martini glasses are now in the homes of art collectors. Art that was not previously purchased will be for sale at the Younger Gallery, located at 1430 Truxtun Avenue, Suite 105, 622-4243.
Sponsors: Three Olives Vodka, T-Bones Steak House, Petroleum Club, KERO TV23, Kelly 95 and Bakersfield Magazine.
