The Arts Council of Kern, in partnership with the California Arts Council and the County of Kern, promotes and supports the diverse arts needs in the region through advocacy, arts in education and technical assistance to local arts organization.
Astraea Grant Programs

Applications are currently being accepted for two of their national grant programs; writers and poets may apply for the 2008 Lesbian Writers' Fund Grant, and visual artists may apply for the 2007-2008 Astraea Visual Arts Fund Grant. Details for the two programs are as follows:
2008 LESBIAN WRITERS' FUND
Closing Date: June 30, 2008
Categories: Fiction/Poetry
Amount: $10,000 for first-place winners; $1,500 for runners-up.
2007-2008 ASTRAEA VISUAL ARTS FUND
Closing Date: March 3, 2008
Categories: Visual mediums including sculpture, paint, print, drawing, etc. (view guidelines for specifics)
Amount: $2,500 to each of three winners.
